We’ve tokenized our membership on the blockchain using Unlock Protocol NFTs. Here’s a breakdown of what happens after you apply for membership. Don’t worry, it’s easier than it looks.

1. Next Steps: You’ll get an email with instructions (steps 2-5 below) to finish up your membership application.
2. Getting Your NFT: If you selected ‘Finalize Payment Later’, then In that email you will receive a link to the Unlock Protocol Checkout. This is where you get your membership NFT! You can pay with crypto or a credit card via Stripe through Unlock. If you select paying with crypto, a NowPayments dialog will open and allow you to proceed.
3. Self-Custody Wallet: To own the NFT, you need a self-custody crypto wallet. This wallet creates an address for your transactions. NHBC NFTs are on the Base blockchain (a Layer 2 on Ethereum) so you need an EVM-compatible wallet.The following wallets have worked for other members, and are recommended by the NHBC for this transaction.

   • Coinbase Wallet
   • Brave Wallet
4. Payment Options: You can pay for membership with any crypto using NowPayments, or a credit card via Stripe.
5. Accessing the Community: Once you have your NFT, you’ll get an email from Unlock with a receipt and a link to join the NHBC Member Forum on Telegram. This Telegram channel is “token gated,” meaning you’ll connect your wallet to a bot (Collabland) to prove you own the NFT and gain access.
